Description
The Just Map It Gear Ratio Wizard gives you full control over the ECU’s drivetrain calculations when a TD5 vehicle has been modified from its original specification.
Changing the transfer box ratio, differential ratios, wheel size or tyre size alters the relationship between engine speed, road speed and the vehicle’s gearing. This can throw out the calculations used by the ECU and may prevent a cruise control conversion from operating correctly.
Once the Gear Ratio Wizard has been activated, the correction process is fully automated.
Simply connect Just Map It to the vehicle and follow the on-screen instructions. The software will ask you to drive the vehicle while it records the required live data. It then automatically calculates the correct values for that individual vehicle and its exact drivetrain setup.
Once the calculation is complete, Just Map It will display the new values and ask you to confirm that you are ready to write them directly to the ECU.
There is no need to manually calculate tyre circumference, transfer box ratios, differential ratios or conversion factors. The wizard works from the vehicle’s real-world logged data, providing figures specifically calculated for your setup rather than relying on generic estimates.
This makes it particularly useful when fitting one of our TD5 cruise control kits to a vehicle fitted with:
- A different transfer box ratio
- Modified differential ratios
- Larger or smaller wheels
- Larger or smaller tyres
- A combination of drivetrain modifications
How it works
- Purchase the Gear Ratio Wizard Unlock Code.
- Open Just Map It on the computer you will be using.
- Select “Gear Ratios” from the main screen.
- Copy the Hardware ID shown by the software.
- Email the Hardware ID to justmapit@empiretuning.co.uk with your order number.
- We will generate and return your individual Hardware Key.
- Enter the key into Just Map It to activate the Gear Ratio Wizard.
- Connect to the vehicle and follow the guided driving and programming process.
- This Feature can then be used on any TD5 with cruise control to rectify.

Important information
This product is a digital unlock code only. No cable, physical product or separate Just Map It licence is included.
The unlock code is generated specifically for the Hardware ID supplied and will only operate on that computer. Please ensure Just Map It is installed on the correct computer before sending your Hardware ID.
Once activated, the wizard gives you a fully automated method of calculating and programming the correct ECU values for your vehicle and custom drivetrain setup.
