The Freelander 2 was launched in 2006 with two mid-life facelifts one in 2010 and the other in 2012 before production stopped altogether in 2014. It was launched with two gearboxes a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic along with Land Rovers legendary Terrain Response 1 system. Several different specifications were available from launch including S, SE, XS and HSE. The mid-life facelifts saw the introduction of new specification levels such as Dynamic, Sport and Metropolis.
Power originally came from two different engines one being a petrol 3.2L V6 badged as the i6 and the other being a diesel 2.2L turbo 4 cylinder diesel named the TD4. When the mid-life facelift came round so did new engines, all in a diesel 2.2 turbo 4 cylinder arrangement called the eD4 and SD4 that sat alongside the TD4. The petrol i6 and the Si4 carried on being sold in other markets until production ceased.
One day we had a customer contact us wanting more power and torque to enhance driving experience of his manual Freelander 2 TD4, to which we said no problem! First we completed a diagnostic check to see that the vehicle was healthy and had no underlying faults. Once satisfied all was well, we installed our custom remap on this manual Freelander 2 TD4.It now benefits from some extra power and torque from idle to the redline making it considerably more enjoyable to drive! The customer commented how much more responsive it was than previously, noticeably when entering roundabouts and exiting junctions not to mention the increase in MPG.
